Extra length Phones Show with my longest video review for three years: the Google Nexus One. Plus an interesting look at Vlingo on Symbian and the future of voice recognition in smartphones. NB: it has been pointed out to me that Quickoffice viewers ARE in the firmware. There’s just no icon or way into a document browser. So you may not need Docs To Go etc.

Woww, this is the most accurate review I’ve seen on youtube so far! Well done
Well, the Nexus One now HAS multi-touch zooming, so….
There’s no multi touch zooming because that is patented to Fingerworks, a company Apple bought before releasing the iPhone.
Every two weeks. Sometimes a few days less. Sometimes a few days more. Have to work around news and around life!
Do you have set dates for posting new episodes (for example thursdays every three weeks) or are they just posted now and then?
Good question. I have to confess that I’ve never used a playlist in my life – I just play ‘Albums’. I know, boring.
Can anyone else help here with a solution?
Hello Steve, i have a question concerning N97 software updates. Is there any way of not losing my playlists after every update? Because sorting hundreds of songs again and again is annoying. Thanks in advance
Flawless? Hardly. Video capture codec is appalling, virtual keyboard in landscape is terrible, battery life isn’t brilliant. And so on.
And with brightness on full, the phone is dead in two hours use.
Voice recognition will get better as Google tune their backend servers.
This phone is flawless, any flaws is normally caused by the moron user or x-ifaglimitedphone user.
Brightness? Screen not good out doors? Voice recognition doesnt work?
hmm screen works 100% fine everywhere, its the best on any device, you’d know that if you went to settings, and removed the auto light sensor and brightened up the screen.
Voice recognition? Your accent is too heavy there buddy, works fine with me and english is my second language.
Multi touch has been implemented 100%. Stop it.
Hopefully.
will you be doing a review on the motorola milestone??
thanks steve
Tough decision. N97 mini will do more but Milestone has its positives. Suggest trying them both in a store?
hi steve. i am about to get a new phone and was wondering if you could help. i cannot choose between the nokia n97 mini or the motorola milestone. your help would be much a appreciated. P.S. i know that you already know this but i just wanted to tell you that skyfire for s60 5th edition is out as a beta now as well. THANKS AGAIN
good video.
Thanks for the review Steve. I’m just amazed at just how fast the Nexus is when browsing and switching screens in “Marketplace”. I used to be happy with my G1 until I saw this..
Thanks, only 100 shows to catch up on! Do start with the newer ones though, the picture quality’s better and the content more up to date – obviously!
Thanks for a really good review, this was the first I’ve seen from you. I will subscribe to stevelitchfield starting now
May even be a guest reviewer…. watch this space!
N97. Because Nokia support their devices. Samsung have yet to prove themselves.
really looking forward to your n900 review.
keep up the good work
if u had to chouse steve between omnia HD end n97 what did u chouse ?
Bit late for the video, but yes, I’ve already upgraded and will mention it in the next show!
@Steve Litchfield
Hey, Steve yesterday(Feb 2nd) google released a firmware update that gives the Nexus 1 multitouch in the form of pinch to zoom in all of its Official application. (browser, photo app ect ect…)
you should add that to the video via text. thanks and im happy to see the N900 review on episode 102.
